Subject: The 5 badass females you should be following on Instagram.
Scrolling through Instagram is for most of us, a daily ritual. Whether you check up on it every 6 hours or 30 minutes, the app has become an integral part of millennial culture. As a keen Instagrammer myself, I’m always looking for new, inspiring and interesting people to follow. Over the past few months I’ve found numerous females on Instagram who are both entertaining, and badass at what they do. Here is my compilation of 5 women who are doing everything right on Insta:
Amelia Dimoldenberg aka ameliadimz (aka Chicken Shop Date girl).
I’d watched a few of her videos from her YouTube show Chicken Shop Date before finding the host and creator on Instagram. The 24-year-old journalist has written for i-D, Dazed and Soho House magazine, as well as creating documentaries for Vice, and now interviewing celebrities in a chicken shop. Not only is she hilariously witty, but her ambition and success at such a young age is something I really admire, especially being a fellow journalist. So if you’re into celebrities, chicken, and dry humour then you’ll love following Amelia Dimoldenberg.
Alexandra Ulmke aka agirlandhervan: traveller, blogger and all-round badass.
I recently went on a YouTube rampage, trying to find as many videos of people who had ditched city life to live in an RV and travel the world as i could. It’s kind of a fantasy of mine, so it was great when I found Alexandra’s channel, who spends her days driving through picturesque landscapes with her loyal husky at her side. Of course she has a banging Instagram that documents everywhere she goes, as well as how she lives life as a nomad. Having been a solo female traveller before meeting her partner, I think she qualifies as a badass female whose account is going to give you some serious Insta-envy.
Nathalie Basha, aka TheTravelMuse. Award-winning journo who travels the world and gets paid for it.
I’ve talked about Nathalie Basha before but she’s definitely worth another mention. Travelling to New Zealand one week, and Colombia the next, this girl interviews incredible people and tells fascinating stories from all over the world. If that isn’t enough to gain a follow, then she also cooks up delicacies she’s tried whilst on her travels and tells you how to make them too. In summary, she’s winning at life. Oh and did I mention she lives in LA?
Eileen Kelly aka killerandasweetthing – a sexy gal who does educational sexy talks.
Eileen Kelly is already pretty big on insta. Stumbling across her on the explore section of the app a little while ago, I became obsessed with her angelic looks and risqué snaps. But she’s not just a pretty face, she’s a smart, forward-thinking sex-educator who is on a mission to deliver ‘the talk’ like you’ve never heard it before. Her ‘Killerandasweetthang’ blog has attracted a lot of attention due to its empowering content and thorough explanation of all things sexy. Do your Instagram feed (and sex life) a favour and follow killerandasweetthing.
Jessica Barden aka jessybarden – effortlessly cool rising starlet
You might have seen her in the Channel 4 drama ‘The End of the F*cking World’ playing the role of a quick-witted angsty teen who runs away from home with a psychotic boy who is secretly plotting her murder. After binge-watching the series, I was delighted to find her on Instagram, posting snippets of her life on-set and off. Although gaining massive popularity through her recent work as an actress, her Instagram shows a very down-to-earth, relatable 25-year-old who occasionally wears designer gowns and walks red carpets, as you do. She doesn’t take herself too seriously, which is refreshing, and also the reason why she’s in my top 5 most badass insta-females (oh and not to mention she can rock a blonde wig better than most brunettes).
Enjoy all the stalking
