Job Title: Contributor for The intern 24/7
Favourite part of your job at The intern 24/7?
Being able to write for a site that is going to help a lot of people like myself. Writing stuff that is entertaining as well as informative is definitely something I love doing.
If you had Mondays off for the rest of your life…how would you spend them?
SHOPPING. And probably eating because those are my two favourite things to do. If money was no object I would hop on the Eurotunnel to spend my day in Paris.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time?
Hopefully working as a travel journalist and frolicking around the world. Both of my brothers work and live abroad so I imagine I’ll follow suit. By then I’ll also hopefully own a Sheba Inu called Milo.
One piece of advice to someone who wants to follow in your career footsteps?
Work experience, work experience, work experience. In Journalism, like most industries, it’s a lot about who you know. The more contacts you make, the more chance you’ll have at landing your dream job!
What advice would you give to someone who has no clue what they want to do?
Find people who inspire you, and research what they do. I was clueless for a really long time, and to be honest I’ve only just found what I have a passion for (two years into my degree). What really helped me was finding a travel journalist on YouTube who documents her every-day life. This gave me such a good insight into what her career was like and inspired me a lot. For any fellow aspiring travel journo’s out there, search The Travel Muse on YouTube!
One fun fact about you?
I was going to be a ballerina. I studied classical ballet for fourteen years and was at the point where I either applied for ballet school or applied for uni. I chose uni, but you’ll still catch me practicing pirouettes in the kitchen whilst making myself a coffee.
