Subject: 5 Things To Wear To The Office In August
Most offices have some sort of dress code, and like to blast the a/c all summer. Although shorts, strappy dresses and slides are a tempting choice, it’s probably not quite right for us 9-5 ers. Whether you go all out or keep it low key at work, here are some key pieces to add to your August wardrobe.
A classic layering piece, and you have lots of options with print and colour. Semi-sheer over a long dress or skirt and tank top will keep you cool, isn’t overly revealing, and you wont be shivering at your desk. Light weight silk and cotton blends are the best choices. The benefit of having it oversized means you can tie it at the front or tuck it into some trousers or high waisted denim.
A work appropriate alternative to the ever popular slide sandal. A stacked mule in any neutral tone (caramel, brown, black) immediately adds sophistication to your look, and can easily be slipped on and off if you need to let your feet breathe under your desk ! Open toe is cute if you want to show off your bright summer pedi!
Silk Head Scarf
A personal favourite, coming to the rescue to brighten your look for the day or simply hide a bad hair morning. A silky scarf folded and tied in a bow pinned in your hair make a simple bun look extra chic. Another option is tying it around your pony tail elastic giving longer tresses an effortlessly cool vibe. You can keep the rest of your outfit a little more subtle, but if Bridget Bardot an Sofia Lauren can rock them so can you!
Nothing says boss lady like the perfect blazer. Wear on a cooler day or to throw on when you get to work, something professional but also fashion forward. The perfect print and fit is the key. A nice pastel colour or floral pattern is very feminine, leopard is a fierce choice to transition to fall. Your coworkers will know you mean business when your rocking it, not to mention you will feel like you can conquer the world.
For those following a more uniformed or strict dress code in the office , I suggest a pop of colour on your ears! Something vintage, 80s inspired in any cool colour or shape. Gold and silver are always elegant but try switching it up with something bright and funky. Perfect with a power suit, pumps and a slick low bun or pony.
